Im visiting NY this week......where can i buy high resolution physical discs???

Dunno. I haven't shopped for such discs in stores for many years, not since the J&R Record Store near City Hall closed up.

Wow. J&R Record Store closed. I did not know that. Purchased a lot of stuff there in the past. Quad, Laser discs, LP's, Sacd's, dvd audios. Purchased my brick there. I remember after 9-11 visiting the store and finding dust from the WTC all over everything.

Me either. I know they scaled back. I used to always find my way there whenever I was in the city. They used to have that entire street, and in the upstairs record store area I bagged many an MFSL/DCC gold disc (they had them all), and other early CDs back in the '80s and '90s. I don't recall ever being there for SACD/DVD-A, as my job stopped sending me to the city.

It's not my style at all, but Rough Trade in Brooklyn does carry new release high-res stuff at full price. Academy Records is probably the best for classical and has some rock stuff - they also sell stuff online and you can search their inventory online and then just buy it in person from them: https://www.amazon.com/s?marketplac...MQYMI9EL&merchant=APGAAMQYMI9EL&redirect=true

Maybe try Generation Records? https://www.yelp.com/biz/generation-records-new-york

I don't know how flexible you are...the Princeton Record Exchange (hour and a half driving, 2 hours on public transit from NYC) has a good dedicated high-res section.
