Halloween was Frank Zappa’s favorite holiday & by 1977 his Halloween shows were legendary. Recorded live at The Palladium in NYC, Zappa performed 6 shows 28-31 October. 4 shows were filmed & resulted in Zappa’s movie “Baby Snakes.” The Halloween 77 box includes all 6 shows in their entirety, mixed in 2016 from original Vault masters, on USB stick in 24-bit WAV audio with 32-page digital booklet, Zappa Halloween mask & costume. The shows rock hard & feature unreleased performances & arrangements. Each box set is individually numbered.
Releases on October 20, 2017.

A 3CD version of the 10/31 show will also be released.

This release is absolutely sick!!!

As a life long Zappa freak and collector I may be going out on a limb here but I am thinking that this is quite possibly the greatest FZ release ever. No bullshit.

Over the years I have stated and argued that this was indeed the best band FZ ever had. If anything this set proves that.

Its a shame its not going to be in surround. I've the DTS release from 2003 Halloween (5.1 DVD-Audio) which is from 1978 and produced by Dweezil Zappa (who I saw play on the 11th Oct.), I'm going to have to listen to it now as I can't remember what the surround mix is like!

The DTS surround sold on Amazon does not have very positive reviews. The new USB box set in stereo at $99.00 is sold out. The box set looks interesting good 24 bit stereo is usually better than lossy and not well mixed surround. I’ll give it a shot. Not a huge Zappa fan but sounds like these shows are a good representation of him ?

Just to be clear here because people are taking about the Halloween DTS DVD in this thread. It is NOT the same year as the new Halloween 77 box. The DTS DVD is from 1978.

And now back to THIS new Halloween 77 box... over the years I have stated and argued that this band was indeed the best band FZ ever had. If anything this set proves that. All six shows are absolutely sick!!!

I wonder if they will include the pre-show interview with a very excited Nina Blackwood?
