Is this the fallout from parent company B&W's recent sale?

Being Canadian I always admired Classe.
Almost bought one of their CD players around about 2001.
But they seemed to take a turn when they were bought, then eventually started building overseas.
Not necessarily a bad turn, but one in which they didn't stand out from the crowd as much.

"Almost bought" 16 years ago kinda says it all?

Good point though price was the main reason I went with a different brand.
And I'm not sure that was the right choice

I've had a Classe amp/pre~amp in my summer home for 27 years and it's still operational.

Truth be told....those pricey high end CD players from the early 00's were mighty expensive and IMO are bettered today by OPPOs at a fraction of the cost. I had a $10K Krell MD~10 CD player with the uber sexy damped lucite top and CD clamp [it was a top loader] and it would probably sound crappy by today's standards. But it certainly was a 'museum piece' and weighed a ton!
