Can either a Samsung DVD-841HD be set up to downmix a 5.1 disc to 4 channel? What about an Oppo DV-970HD?
Reason I ask is that I am doing exactly that with an Oppo BDP-103 but I just got another functional quad unit and am wondering which disc spinner to pair with it. This will be an audio only setup so I don't need the HDMI input of the 103 here. I do also have an Oppo 95 but I would like to keep that with my "best" system even if it is only 2 channel. I have both the players listed above but one will be given away for Christmas. Wondering if there is any compelling reason for me to keep one or the other. Right now I'm leaning towards keeping the Samsung because it looks good with Marantz gear. (yeah that matters sometimes.)
