Got to page 5...

We all know he messed around with phasing in Stereo...that is why his stuff is so "decodable"....not only the best electric gutarist ever, but a Surround visionary!!!
 
I suppose you could say his discs are a natural type surround , like "Blumlein " or "Haas " effect . Stretching the limits of stereo micking to present a surround matrix , with some wicked panning to boot.

It was...in the sense that two channels of sound (later three) were moved around manually (by pan-potting) among 5 or later as many as 54 loudspeakers.
