Was just surfing eBay and noticed something interesting...

I saw what looked like a spanish pressing of MFSB's "Love Is The Message" that had a gold border like the early Columbia SQ releases, such as "Abraxas" or "Indian Reservation". I don't actually have the LP, but I recalled from discogs that it had the "Quadraphonic" logo integrated into the cover art like most later SQs, and sure enough I was right!

US: https://www.discogs.com/MFSB-Love-Is-The-Message/release/374248

Are there other SQ discs where international pressings have gold borders when the US versions don't? It might be fun to make a comprehensive list...

Update:

Here's another one..."Santana's Greatest Hits". I have the US version of that LP and the SQ logo is only on the back.

The back of the jacket shows a few other Spanish pressings of later SQ discs that don't usually have the gold border.

interesting...

as you can see from the rear sleeve of the Neil Diamond Spanish SQ LP, also in the 1st wave of releases in Spain were;

Bob Dylan - Nashville Skyline,
Santana - Greatest Hits,
Art Garfunkel - Angel Clare,
Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water,
Janis Joplin - Pearl,
Santana - Abraxas

Those first 3 discs were not gold bordered for both the U.S. and Canadian versions, so that's kinda strange to see...a good strange, though.

And that pic from the back cover of Rogier Van Otterloo's disc.... is the spitting image of TYA'S Alvin Lee (actually thought that was who it was on first view--must be twins !:smokin )

Notice that what they do not have is the name "Columbia". They are selling records in countries where they do not own the trademark "Columbia". So they used CBS, a trademark they do own.
