Shit i've been to six different stores today , and nobody has DSOTM 5.1 in yet.
I'm here in Ontrario Canada
Went to 2 Best Buy's , Wal Mart , Zellers , HMV , Futureshop.
Hope it is out by tomorrow.

Hey They told me our release date might be next tuesday
A week later than the US
Anybody in canada know for sure<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/grin.gif ALT=" >D">

It's at the Best Buy store near where I live (U.S.A), although I couldn't find it in either the SACD section or the Pink Floyd CD section either. A store employee found it somewhere and brought it over. Was $11.99 (marked at $13.99). The new artwork comes in handy, since I was able to recognize it as the new one right away. There's a picture of the old artwork inside the booklet, in case anyone misses it.

I checked a Best Buy and a small CD/DVD/DVD-A/SACD shop in the toronto area. The clerk said that EMI Canada's distribution was screwed up and they hadn't received any CDs from them.

He said to check back in a week or two

The Best Buy in Tampa, FL actually had a WHOLE DISPLAY for the disc. Long way from Canada, though.

Ok they said it was due out today but it is classified as an import from EMI. So any week now. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(  :( :( :p :p <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/grin.gif ALT=" >D"> |I

I have the same problem. I checked various BestBuys and Walmarts and Costco and Zellers and Future Shops between where I work in Toronto (Sheppard and Victoria Park Area) and Whitby where I live. Nothing. I finally ordered it from amazon.ca but I am thinking of dual ordering at amamzon.com. Amazon.com says in stock and will ship within 24 hours and amazon.ca says 7-9 days. It is almost the same price in Canadian funds although there is shipping at amazon.com. However that means no taxes as well so the 2 sort of balance things out.

I did the same thing (checked about 6 different stores) yesterday. To-day I called up a place that’s out of my way (Sound City at Queen Street) & was informed that no one has it due to a major problem. That being that the 5.1 SACD mix is not 5.1 but mono. They have been recalled & new (proper) ones will be shipping out shortly. I assume that this would be an EMI Canada pressing or a lot of people are full of ...

I ordered it from amazon.com early this morning just after my last post and it is already marked as shipped. Based on past experience it should show up on Friday probably. If what the guy told you is true, it could be a long time before we see any copies in stores here.

Just ordered mine from Amazon.com too.
Will be shipped tomorrow no doubt, and be at my door by next friday hopefully.
No wonder the recording industry in Canada is so down in sales. Way to go Capitol/E.M.I Canada
Pressed in Mono holy christ.

Based on my experience with amazon, it should take a lot less than a week to arrive after shipping. I have never had a shipment go over 3 days in transit and no GST or PST. Another hit on the government.

An amusing story about the Mono mistake. I'm sure it's some great fiction from the record store clerk.

The DSOTM Hybrid SACD was pressed at 3 sites: Crest National in Hollywood, Sony in Japan and Sonopress in Germany.

In all fairness she did not say that they were made in Canada. A lot of people already had the disk & were revewing it so I figured out that the US edition was ok. I just figured it was a Canadian problem & it brought back memories of Cinram disks (mid 90's about 75% of the disks made in Canada were from Cinram & it would not play in my toshiba & my pioneer would only play them before the machine warmed up) so I thought they won the rights to press them up here.
I PICKED UP THE DISK TO-DAY AT HMV (DOWNTOWN) FOR $20.00. The disk itself is made in Japan & everything else in the US. It's 5.1. IT'S HEEEEEEEEEEERE!!!!!!!!

Made in Japan. OK, you must have one of the SACDs from the Sony Japan Hybrid SACD plant then.

So, what do you think of the disc ?

Just heard the 5.1 mix (3 x) it (sound) is excellent - better than the MO-FI UDI that I own. Of all the SACD's that I own (30 +, just got the player in January for this reason) IMO it has the best overall sound from the drum kit on out (never liked the sound of the drum kits on SACD's - the hi hat & cymbols sounded great/better but the rest of the kit had me wishing it would have been recorded in dvd-a - e.g. David Bowie - Heathen) beating Tubular Bells. Got a copy of the Parson's Quad mix (from one of our board buddies) & I think wish they would of used that (Parson's) mix - but this isn't bad.

Sirtonym,
Is this HMV in Downtown Toronto?

I too remember the Cinram discs. If you held them up to the light they looked like swiss cheese. They sounded like crap. Too much error correction going on.

I'm in Toronto....and whenever I try to order from .com....not .ca.....it says it can't deliver it to me.
Am I doing something wrong? I have not tried for a few weeks though.

BestBuy in the Toronto area still doesn't have it. I just phoned a bunch. It should arrive on Monday or Tuesday from Amazon.com so I guess I will just hang in there. maybe I will try a few HMV's in malls on the way home and see if they have it.

Regarding the shipping from amazon.com, I have had an account there for a few years and never had this non-shipping error message. You can't get the free shipping but they should be able to ship to Toronto.
