Natually I open the package and it's a remastered stereo CD, but the invoice is SA. (FYI - Nightfly is DVDA and King Crimson USA is CD on same invoice)

I was directed to return it for the proper item to be sent. Will advise what I end up with. (prize or credit)

Roll the dice...;)

Several CD Universe emails later; here's the latest in the saga.

1) CDU: "We received your return and issued a store credit."
2) ME: "Are you saying I have to take a store credit?"

3) CDU: "We took back the CD and gave you a credit because you CAN'T PLAY AN SACD."

4) ME: "WHAT A WRONG ASSUMPTION TO MAKE!" I most certainly can as I have a player and several discs."

5) CDU: Here is a new order with a store credit applied of $12.92 and a balance of $9.07 [re-ordered but at $21.99] (the $11.99 item link had been removed from the site)

6) ME: (once I notice the new price) I canceled it just now, this is NOT what I want to pay for that title."

7) CDU: (sensing that they were frustrating a regular customer) "Tim - If you still want the selection I'll put it back in at $11.99

 ME: "Thank you, if you can do that for me, fine. Thanks."

Epilog: If they had said refund/credit only, I'd have written it off and moved on. But they made 2 mistakes (3 actually, but I'll get to that):
1) They presumed I didn't have an SACD player.
2) Then they assumed I wanted it at $21.99 (full list price BTW)

The third MISTAKE is the big one I said to pass on to marketing management: You're making the same mistake of many retailers; there's no category or obvious link for ALL OF US to find any DVD-A & SACD titles."

stay tuned

If I didn't have you to talk to here, I'd go crazy...<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

Tim,

I think Best Buy has that SACD for $11.99 in their system. It's incorrect, of course, but that is how it rings up. I know, I got one! :D

Right. Best Buy does indeed have JT by James Taylor on Multichannel SACD tagged at $11.99 for some reason.

Similarly, they have the Top Gun Stereo SACD for $12.99 and the Herbie Hancock Headhunters Multichannel SACD for $16.99.

Look in with the regular CDs, not in the back with the dusty SACDs! You should find MEATLOAF and CHEAP THRILLS in with the regular CDs too!

I'll look in the regular CDs; been looking in the DVD Audio area where they've left Stevie Ray Vaughn and Indigo Girls titles....

These items are usually mispriced in the Best Buy stores. They are actually priced as the regular cd issue. I'm not sure if they come from the corporate warehouse or some rack-jobber as they do not have price gun stickers on them. You also should make make sure they have a new barcode sticker over the original barcode on the case. The Weather Report sacd I bought for $11.99 had a barcode sticker on the case & the barcode was for the cd (the -2 near the end of barcode denotes CD, if it was -4 you would be looking at a cassette, I'm not sure if they have specified number for sacd but the one I'm currently looking at is -6). The register will scan it as a sacd if there is no barcode sticker over the original barcode. As with most stores you have to check everywhere to find sacd/dvd-audio so be diligent. Also, you may want to check other Best Buys if you think it is worth the drive. I've seen mis-prices at 5 out of the 6 I've been to, although it is rarely something I want & don't already have.
