Several CD Universe emails later; here's the latest in the saga.
1) CDU: "We received your return and issued a store credit."
2) ME: "Are you saying I have to take a store credit?"
3) CDU: "We took back the CD and gave you a credit because you CAN'T PLAY AN SACD."
4) ME: "WHAT A WRONG ASSUMPTION TO MAKE!" I most certainly can as I have a player and several discs."
5) CDU: Here is a new order with a store credit applied of $12.92 and a balance of $9.07 [re-ordered but at $21.99] (the $11.99 item link had been removed from the site)
6) ME: (once I notice the new price) I canceled it just now, this is NOT what I want to pay for that title."
7) CDU: (sensing that they were frustrating a regular customer) "Tim - If you still want the selection I'll put it back in at $11.99
ME: "Thank you, if you can do that for me, fine. Thanks."
Epilog: If they had said refund/credit only, I'd have written it off and moved on. But they made 2 mistakes (3 actually, but I'll get to that):
1) They presumed I didn't have an SACD player.
2) Then they assumed I wanted it at $21.99 (full list price BTW)
The third MISTAKE is the big one I said to pass on to marketing management: You're making the same mistake of many retailers; there's no category or obvious link for ALL OF US to find any DVD-A & SACD titles."
stay tuned
