Elusive Disc's web site is now showing the 5 new Universal SACD releases due out next Tuesday (11/26) as in stock.

This includes 4 Multichannel/Stereo SACDs from Diana Krall, Al Jarreau, Ryan Adams and Bon Jovi as well as a Stereo only SACD by Steve Earle.

Check the Elusive Disc new products list at www.elusivedisc.com/produ...p?dept=168 for details and ordering info.

I think it's great that the multi-channel SACDs seem to be coming along now. But, has anybody already commented on the fact that none of these titles below, announced well over a year ago, have not been mentioned in release announcements?

"The Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore East" (Universal)
Joe Cocker: Mad Dogs & Englishman (Universal)
Derek & The Dominoes: Layla (Universal)
Peter Frampton: Frampton Comes Alive (Universal)
Hanson: Direct TV Special (Universal)
Elton John: One Night Only: The Greatest Hits (Universal)
Sting: Brand New Day (Universal)

Well, Universal has just sent out a new SACD release list for early 2003. My understanding is that both Allman Brothers Live and Frampton Comes Alive are on it. No word on whether these two will be Multichannel/Stereo or Stereo only SACDs.

As for the others on your list, I haven't seen Universal Music mention them at all for SACD release so far. But they continue to expand their SACD upcoming release list - so who knows.

There was a big article about doing the 5.1 mix for Frampton in Mix magazine a while ago, so I'm guessing it's M/C.

Ironic thing is, it was the big DVD-Audio issue, which leads me to believe Universal was headed that direction first and then changed their minds.

Universal has lunged and retreated several times; making DVD-A announcements very early on with specific titles promised, then nothing released, then came the surprising SACD announcements, then actual SACD product. But none of the original titles that were announced during their DVD-A era.

There is always the political and the technical aspects to everything. Which one wins more these days?
