Lotus Legend Complete Edition - HYBRID 4.0 - [Limited Edition] / Santana
This live album contains Osaka performance on July 3rd and 4th, 1973, and it was a tremendous performance that the young Santana band in the first heyday performed before the Japanese audience and later the Guinness World Record The 22-sided jacket which is also certified is a monumental work by live in Japan where artworks with an unexpected scale are handed down still. It is also a work that has special meaning to Santana fan of Japan, because Japanese worked for everything necessary for record production, from planning to recording, photography, design and so on. It was discovered at the end of last year that the analog / multi tape which was actually used in the recording of "Lotus legend" was kept in the warehouse of Sony music of Japan for a long time, it was collected for the first time in 44 years. In analogue multitape which had never been used since 1974, although there was a song whose performance was interrupted due to some tape exchanges or a reel which was lost for some reason, most of the concert 2 days It turns out that the performance record is in good condition that I can not think it is the tape of the 1970s. The sound source which was inevitably cut at that time due to the fraction of the analog LP fraction recorded is also firmly left, and "Japan" "bamble" "Ummu Uum" "sacred light" "the creator husband · A master plan · "SAVER" · "Conga · SOLO" 7 songs (about 35 minutes) newly added, so that all the songs played in Osaka will be arranged here. The mix of these excavation sound sources was performed by engineer Tomio Suzuki who worked on numerous masterpieces such as the original "Legend of Lotus" and Beck Bogart & Apis "Live in Japan". We carefully chose the equipment and cables to make it sound as unrelated as possible to the preexisting sound source and it was mixed and it was mixed in the mix master while keeping the natural and dynamic sound image of the analog tape. The seven pieces (songs) that were missing from the original board were captured in the place as ordered in the actual songs, and it became a "complete version" without surviving from the head to the end, and the rare nationwide performance revived. [2017 year commemoration board] - DSD 11.2 MHz mastering was done SACD, that DSD master. Amazing news if indeed the Quad tapes were found. This may mean that we could see the other Quad Santana titles released. That in itself is fabulous news. :)

They did found even the original multi, thus the presence of some other tracks omitted from the 1974 release.

Exciting! Ahem...would I really spend $70 US dollars for this?@:

As I listened to the AF stereo reissue of LOTUS I kept saying to myself.....this would sound great in surround.

And with the bonus material, I know, I, personally, will be double dipping to own this multichannel release.

And YES, SONY Japan will release LOTUS in that very special 7x7" packaging akin to the Jeff Beck mch releases.

2017 DSD remastering..

And as Simon A intimated....this could very well be the beginning of all the Santana QUAD masters FINALLY being released!

Well if they found those multi's one has to wonder if there are other Live Quad or Quad Studio tapes of other artists that were exclusive to Sony.

Or perhaps even Japanese Quad master copies supplied by CBS/Columbia for the Asian market, most especially tapes of quad albums that A.F. could not obtain for various reasons. Always a good idea to check out the warehouse, periodically. :smokin

My thoughts exactly!
I don't want to say anything just yet, but I may have found some other interesting listings relating to this new release, but I want to do some research on them in case they do not turn out to be what we all want them to be…

;)

It appears there's nothing else for the time being besides "Lotus".
All of the other Santana listings I found on CDJapan and amazon are low budget CD(only) reissues.
Still I hope this particular release has now opened the door for more Santana Multichannel SACD releases in Japan, as expensive as they may be.

:)

I certainly won't, I think the album sucks and I am a huge Santana fan.(n)

I don't think it sucks, but I won't be spending a hundred (Canadian) dollars on it. I am quite satisfied playing the CD through my Tate decoder ... and spending that $100 on a few other disks.

Well, lookie-lookie...we just happened to "find" this. Just in time to not make it available for Audio Fidelity's Lotus project...what are the odds...

Maybe it's the outside interest shown to this title in 4.0 that got Sony Japan to consider a release of its own for their market.

So they are moving on to Santana. Does this mean that Jeff Beck is over. I was hoping we would see that possible live album with Jan Hammer released in quad. Perhaps it does not exist.

I am sure that there are a number of unknown quadraphonic mixes from the mid-to-late 70s that were never released because of quad's demise. I would rather see those released digitally, rather than titles that have already been released in analog quad formats. We already have those to enjoy.
