Didn't know the 105D had a USB DAC input....

Thanks!!

Yes. So you have 2 choices for DSD Download playback on the 105D.

With the 3 standard USB ports (1 on the front, 2 on the back) you can play DSD 64fs downloads in Stereo and Multichannel - the SACD resolution level.
If you use a computer + the "USB DAC" port, then the 105 and 105D perform like a regular DAC and you can play DSD 64fs (105 and 105d) and DSD 128fs (105d) downloads in Stereo and Multichannel.

I wrote this up in light of the many 103 and 105 Oppo players out there. For a lot of musc fans, this will be their entry into DSD Music Downloads.

Actually, you have 3.

With the 105D (or 105 or 103) connected to your home network, you can access DSD files on a remote drive such as on your computer or NAS directly via SMB protocol. No new wires, either.

It will be for me....

So....begs the question. Is there a preferred site that offers "said downloads"?

How about content....2 channel vs multi channel, etc. Or all the same by provider?? Probably there is a dedicated thread floating around somewhere...

The second choice, connecting your computer to the 105 or 105D does that as well (connecting to files on the computer or a NAS).

With SMB protocol to a 103 or 105, wasn't there an issue with DSD files and PCM conversion as I recall? Or has that been fixed by Oppo?

A good place to start is some of the download sites that offer free downloads to try. That gives you a chance to experiment at no cost. In some cases, in both Stereo and Multichannel DSD. For example, check out:

Perfect, thanks. At least this way, I can see if this is something I want to mess with.

Not quite. Your 2nd choice requires that one have a DLNA compatible program (e.g., jRiver) on the PC or NAS. With the SMB connection, one need only use the music browser built into the Oppo.

Not that I have seen.

In the latest edition of Ted & Brian's Corner, Native DSD Advisor Ted Brady (ted_b here on QQ) talks about Super Audio CD (SACD) disc players (he's owned 10 so far), DSD Digital to Analog Converters (he's reviewed over 30), Ted's contribution to the computer audio scene and a sneak preview of his Consumer Electronic Show coverage where provide some DSD highlights from the recent 2015 CES Show in Visit Las Vegas. Essential reading for all music fans!

Folks, I'm interested in the DSD DFF file playback capability of Oppo BDP 10X players with the latest fw. Could you please test the following audio files and give us a feedback?

I downloaded all 4 files onto my laptop, then copied them over to a simple 8GB flash drive (memory stick). Carried that to the OPPO-103, plugged it in. Oppo 103 was able to correctly play the DSD files, both 2 channel and multi, but the DST files only produced white noise or much like a test tone.

Thank you for your efforts. Seems both Oppo 103 and Pioneer BDP-LX58 don't support DST-DSD file playback :( .
