Dear reader,

since I didn't receive an answer from Audio Fidelity, I put my
question in this forum.

"Which equipment is required to properly play, decode and
listen to a 4.0 Audio Fidelity disc?"

Ok, I strongly guess a SACD-player, a four-channel amp, and four speakers
are obvious items. But: Is there any special decoder required? Or an
"old fashioned" SQ-decoder?

By the way, I already own many SQ records, two SQ-decoders and the rest of a four-channel
equipment for the SQ-system (vinyl and CD).

Thanx in advance for Your responses.

Any AV Receiver sporting 5.1 etc , and an SACD compatible player will do.

4.0 SACD is generation compatible , as are quad dvd's, dvda, blu-ray, and dts cds.

When playing a 4.0 SACD (or really, any SACD without a ".1" signal), some older 5.1 receivers require you to play around with the settings--bass management and so forth--in order to get bass to the subwoofer, if you have one. But in your case that shouldn't be an issue.

Hi Quad-Fans,

many thanks for Your responses!
Since I already have a multichannel AV-receiver
I'll buy some 4.0 SACDs and wire an SACD player
to my equipment asap ...

If you have a multichannel AV receiver and a multichannel SACD player (not a Stereo SACD player), you should be all set.

And don't limit yourself to the 4 Channel SACDs from Audio Fidelity.
The 5.1 Channel SACDs from Audio Fidelity are also worth getting! :)

Hi Quad/Surround fans,

due to Your answers I checked my equipment and found
that my cheap Sony player and cheap Yamaha AV-receiver should
be able to handle multichannel.

Hence, I bought some multichannel SACDs and ... behold ...
I was listening to quad! Great!

But not so great at all ... for my wallet ... now I am searching for a better equipment
since I bought my present equipment just for watching movies ...

Thanx to You all!
