I was told Warner Music Group has no issues with licensing quad tapes. Often artists or managers had objections or too strict demands was only issue. And that Warners did not want to license any 5.1 at all (saving those for their own use later).

I'd love it if D/V could take a chance on Bette or Donny and see how it worked out with a WMG title.

Well, there are other issues.

Key among them is the guaranteed amount of $ required by the record label and recording artist/band to license albums in Quad or 5.1 for reissue.
As the sales of physical media continue to drop, it can be very challenging to make the costs of a reissue and the potential sales pencil out.

I wouldn't mind a D-V re-run of Billy Cobham's Spectrum. That was one AF title I missed out on and now the asking prices are astronomical.

And while they are at the game of unreleased jazz-rock Quad gems, how about setting the rumoured Quads of Mahavishnu Orchestra's Apocalypse and Stanley Clarke's School Days free?

Any chance the Elvis Presley RCA Quad's could get a release? I know that would be a big "get." But hey, worth pursuing; if you don't ask, you don't get.

At any rate, I'll take what we can get released, which has been unbelievably crazy excellent.

I would imagine the costs involved would be quite high and would necessitate the involvement of the E.P.E. and 'Follow that Dream'. I mean, it's not impossible, but I would wager with that many fingers in the pie; the retail for the discs would be astronomical.

I'd be in for all of them - literally! Would even ask for the inclusion of the unreleased "From Elvis Presley Blvd, Memphis TN" album.

If they do find quad tapes for Apocalypse buried somewhere, it'd be cool if they could pair it up with Between Nothingness & Eternity. It's live but happens to be a very discrete mix.

Well, I just digitized the SQ version of the self-titled Dave Mason. Seems like whenever I finally do something like that, a better version quickly gets released!

ooh yeah! i love that one!
would be ecstatic if DV did all his Quads!

in particular the 2 x Don Young-mixed (he did Poco's "Cantamos" & "Seven") Dave Mason Quads (this one and "It's Like You Never Left") are upto Young's usual high standards.

"if you ever...
change your mind..
about leaving,
leaving me behind,
oh ohh, bring it to me,
bring your sweet lovin',
bring it on home to me
(yeah)
(yeah)
(yeah)

(yeah)
ohhhhhhhhh....!!!!"

:rocks

Dave Mason "It's Like You Never Left" is the obvious one to pick if they were going to do any Mason.

Some folks on the other forum are interested in Charlie Rich's two quads on Epic.

i'm glad they are interested over at the SHF, they must have good taste! ;)

more seriously, several Charlie Rich Quads have brilliant surround mixes and amazingly there's 5 of his Quads in all so lots for DV to release..!

(the 5 are: Behind Closed Doors, Best Of, Every Time You Touch Me I Get High, The Silver Fox & Very Special Love Songs... my personal favourites are BCD & ETYTMIGH, they're smashing!)

From the left surround speaker!

yeah! ;)
its great isn't it!! :rocks
i didn't know the album at all before picking up the SQ LP but as soon as the first guitar notes rang out of the opener "Show Me Some Affection" i was sold and it just kept getting better and better, wonderful music with a wonderful Quad mix to match

Donny Hathaway 1973 Extension Of Man Quadraphonic Tapes WEA would make a great SACD Multi Channel Hybrid CD.
First track a Full Orchestra. Features Phil Upchurch on one track, recorded in Chicago.
There already is a fabulas DVD-A conversion from Quad Reel-to-Reel out there of this title. I'd rather they tackle a quad that appeared on SQ or CD-4 only, at this time.

Rags To Rufus is the bigger album and the mix is very good but the Rufusized Quad is wonderful! the QS LP when decoded leaps out of the speakers in an uncanny 3D way! love it!!
