Yep. Just checked Tab's list. Didn't realize it was on it. I mean there are 707 titles. Wow! Discovered same ebay lister uploaded this Santana reel. He's playing a Q4 on a 2 track deck so we get to hear the quad mix in stereo. Never realized this twisted downward compatibility of Q4 reels. Kind of weird. It also seems to be playing a little too fast, but still a fun listen!

And the Santana reel is a mockup as Columbia didn’t offer quad reels commercially.

Like timbre4 said, Columbia didn't release Q4's. The only discrete format that was released in was Q8. And, they'd have to have one heck of a tricked out deck, to be able to play all four channels at once and have the deck down-mix to stereo, discrete Q4's and Q8's aren't stereo compatible. The seller likely duplicated an SQ disc over to Q4 without decoding it.

Thought this was one of those control master Columbia Q4 reels like BOTW was. If you do play a Q4 reel on a 2 track reel to reel deck what happens?

You get two of the four channels if you use a quarter track machine, if it is a half track machine, you get four channels compressed to two and more hiss from the blank areas not used in quarter track tapes.

Could that be what is heard on this Santana upload? Because it really doesn't sound that great.
