Did this one (listed on the news page) actually get released? Has anyone seen this listed for purchase online or in any stores yet?

....haven't seen or heard anything about it....

Hi,

those of you who did acquired this DVD-A, did you notice that the channels are (possibly) in wrong order!!!! The MLP version is just terribly bad and cannot be listened at all. The DTS-version is OK but not anything special.

Maybe I got a falulty version of the DVD-A but because the manufacturing numbers of DVD-A were quite marginal, it is possible that all records were like mine!!!

No wonder DVD-A did vanish from the market. Or was this because the DTS company did not pay much attention to the MLP version at all .....

Yes the DVD-A multichannel tracks are abysmal. I think that the DTS 2 channel tracks are pretty good. As far as I know, there was no attempt to fix the mix.

I think some of the Channels are switched in the DVD-A multi-channel track. It sounds fine on the 2-ch and DTS, but not on the 5.1ch (n)

I just got the Traveling Miles DVD-A and yes the MLP 5.1 mix is screwed up. The vocals are prominent in the right rear channel. I switched to the DTS lossy mix and the vocals are mixed correctly. I'm a fan of Cassandra Wilson and got the DVD-A for about $25 shipped so it's a worthwhile purchase IMO.

Thatā€™s a great price and one of fav titles, regardless of mess-up. Many here donā€™t agree and thatā€™s fine. If you look up the Poll (under Casandra-miss spelled) I have an extensive review of it:)

Love Cassandra, Pupsta ... but specifically purchased it for the MLP DVD~A 5.1 ...... which was royally screwed up. Yes, the LOSSY DTS 5.1 and MLP LOSSLESS Stereo are fine....but REALLY?

Thanks! I'm fine with it as it's an excellent album and the DTS 5.1 mix is fine. I'm listening to it as I type. Very glad I bought it :)!

Surely you jest... Can't ya see... Can't ya seeee, what that Pupster's been doin' ta me!
(No Marshall Tucker in surround is the real crime here!)

Well in that case, Pupsta, become the TOP DOG at a major record company and make it happen! Marshall Tucker in Surround.

BTW, do you have Cassandra's magnificent NEW MOON DAUGHTER RBCD ..... it's criminal THAT superb recording hasn't been remixed into surround. IMO, better than Travelin' Miles. Try that out for size on the SM v.2!

In that we totally agree my good friend; been a favorite of mine for a long time!

Would LOVE to know how it fares via the SM v.2. A superb audiophile RBCD!

BTW, JP, any 'screws loose' on your SM v.2?
I'm very happy with my Smv2; no issues that concern me. And I have stacks and stacks of CDs (like NEW MOON DAUGHTER) that I'm dying to try, but it all takes time. And, I just got the SW-TD box set to wade through. Also don't forget that new D-V disc that I hear has a SQ encoded layer on it; can't wait to try that also.

I was just listening to Marshall Tucker's Where We All Belong CD yesterday. MT in surround would be epic! I saw them in the 70's in Boston and it was an incredible show. They played in NH last year and it was a great show. The only remaining original member is Doug Gray but it was well worth going to hear MT's classics live.

i believe the channels were originally (wrongly) assigned in the MLP 5.1 as such;

1 = Front Left
2 = Rear Left
3 = Rear Right
4 = LFE
5 = Centre
6 = Front Right

so if you..

- leave Channels 1 & 4 where they are

- lower Channel 1 by -3dB

- lower Channel 4 by -10dB

- reassign Channel 2 to Channel 5

- reassign Channel 3 to Channel 6

- reassign Channel 5 to Channel 3

- reassign Channel 6 to Channel 2

- and lower your new Channel 2 (previously Channel 6) by -3dB..

...you should get something i feel is possibly closer to what was originally intended. (maybe!) o_O :ROFLMAO:

Honest to God, Iā€™m not a gambler. Nonetheless, casinos factor into my live music listening history. Back in 2003 I was in Reno, Nevada for my wifeā€™s family reunion. We attended an outdoor beer tasting event where they had bands playing for free on the street just outside the casino. We stumbled onto and got to hear the Marshall Tucker Band, and also Elvin Bishop.

My sister in-law and her husband talked us into visiting Mohegan Sun the weekend it opened. I sat down in the Wolfā€™s Den lounge area and listened to the Everly Brothers with the great Albert Lee on guitar, again for free.

Then last year I paid 45 bucks for a ticket to see Aretha Franklin perform in front of an orchestra at Foxwoods Casino. I was visiting her hometown of Detroit last year when she passed away. To say the least, the city displayed a massive outpouring of love for the Queen of Soul.
