Though I obviously still actively buy music in surround, there are a handful of relatively high profile titles that I have purposely passed on. The two major reasons for me, not surprisingly, are (1)disinterest in a particular tile, and (2)expense. I'm clearly not the only retired person on the forum who has to make choices based on a smaller monthly cash flow. I wonder what similarly informed choices other QQers have made. Remember, I'm not talking about, say, a person opting not to buy a Dutton Vocalion reissue because they're not into classical music(not meant in any way as a knock against the classics and those of us who love them). I'm talking about items that you seriously considered purchasing and then decided to take a pass on.
Here is my list(in no particular order):
Jethro Tull - This Was(I truthfully only cared for a couple of songs on this one)
Heavy Horses(the Tull of my misspent youth ended with TAAB)
Too Old To Rock and Roll(ditto)
The Band - The Band(too expensive, plus I have a nice MoFi SACD in stereo)
XTC - Drums and Wires(I missed this one when it came out and I was too cheap to spend the money later)
Black Sea(ditto)
Having said all that, I admit to being woefully inconsistent. IOW, I did spring for Gene Clark/No Other(mega expensive but I'm a major fan) and the Stones/Rock and Roll Circus(as much as I love the Stones, I should have saved my money!). I have also sprung for a sizeable number of Dutton Vocalion that I otherwise might have passed on because I love the idea of supporting Dutton Vocalion(I can't be alone in that!).
