I know that this has nothing to do with surround, well, maybe indirectly, but I was wondering about this after seeing a post in another thread.
How many movies have you watched so many times that you can almost recite them? You know, for me it's movies like "Caddyshack", "Blazing Saddles", "Blues Brothers", "Stripes", there are quite a few. Of course, the older you are the more time you've had to watch them again and again but I am curious as to what others do with movies they like or love.

There are movies that I've seen that I would never ever want to see again, and some I wish I didn't see in the first place, but others just seem to be able to be digested over and over, even if they are not considered great films. I mean no matter when I see the pool scene in Caddyshack I start laughing way before "the event" actually happens.

That kind of thing. Besides, we're all cooped up - what else do we have to do?

Great idea for a thread! Rewatchability is the key component in what makes a movie a favourite. I have many but some are just under the "5 times" threshold so here are a few high numbers just off the top of my noggin:

Spielberg's Duel
The Swimmer
2001
The Shining
Full Metal Jacket
Barry Lyndon
Deliverance
The Deer Hunter
Apocalypse Now
Leon/The Professional
Heat
Alien
Blade Runner
Legend
Aliens
The Breakfast Club
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Thin Red Line
Grosse Point Blank
Sicario
Drive
Office Space

Others like Star Wars, I've seen more than the rest but have no immediate desire to see again. I haven't watched any of the first 6 Star Wars movies since before Blu-ray was a thing. Might check them out again once they're out on 4K perhaps.

Lord of the Rings trilogy
Young Frankenstein
Blazing Saddles
All the Monty Python films
Caddyshack (So I've got that going for me......which is nice.)
Flash Gordon (1980 version w/Queen soundtrack)
Dr. Strangelove
Casino Royale
Shawshank Redemption
Fight Club
Magnolia
This is Spinal Tap (It goes to 11)
Midnight Run
Hannah and Her Sisters
Manhattan
Brazil
12 Monkeys
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnasus

Mostl of my fave, epic/sweeping/drama/sci fi/Kubrick faves have already been mentioned but here are a few more (some perhaps on the more esoteric side).

Seventh Seal - Ingmar Bergman classic
It's A Gift - WC Fields (makes me cry laughing every time)
The Seduction Of Mimi - Lina Vertmuller
Pink Panther(s) - only the ones with Peter Sellers
Hitchcock's Vertigo & Rear Window
West Side Story
Apocalypse Now & the Godfather trilogy

Classics:
Casablanca
Gone With the Wind
Wizard of Oz
North by Northwest
Rear Window
The Birds
High Noon
Bus Stop
The Great Escape
Bugs Bunny animations
Tex Avery animations
Dumbo
The Incredibles (Incredibles 2 hasn't crossed the threshold but it is getting close)
Iron Giant

Possibly classics, at least they are to me:
The Sand Pebbles
A Hard Day's Night
Galaxy Quest
Empire Strikes Back
That Touch of Mink
The Big Country
Raiders of the Lost Ark

There are so many great movies.

Wow, we have very similar tastes.

I would add

Fight Club
The Matrix
Caddyshack
Psycho

BTW, I highly recommend everyone watch The Andromeda Strain right now. This 50 year old movie is eerily similar to Covid and even the treatment in the movie (low blood pH) is being talked about why quinoline might work as a treatment today. Crazy how History repeats itself.
