Van Halen's David Lee Roth has changed his name.

David Lee Roth has changed his name.
The former Van Halen front man now wants to be called “David L. Roth” or “El Roth.”

Roth made the announcement via social media, posting a piece of artwork he’d created, showing a giant frog by a tiny human, with the following text about the name change:

“David ‘Lee’ Roth changes name! Diamond Dave, following Lady Antebellum’s (now ‘Lady A’) example, will be dropping the ‘Lee’ from now on. He wants us all to call him ‘David L. Roth’ or simply ‘El Roth.'”
And he ends the message, for some reason, with: “Bannana (sic) fana-fo-fana.”

Calvin the Bold will only refer to himself in the 3rd person...

Trainwreck?

Remember that song Jump? (Junk! ... We're juuust, junk! ...)
Had this keyboard intro and then a main keys riff throughout. MTV video hit and all that at the time.

They played it for a reunion show a while ago now.
The keys part was prerecorded.
Something got away from the soundguy and the 44.1k recording was played at 48k.
That makes it about a key up in pitch - a whole step.

The video on youtube doesn't do justice to just how bad of a trainwreck that would have sounded like being there. It was truly Spinal Tap worthy!

I did not know that about El, I always thought it was a seraphim term Michael, Gabriel, Uriel, you get the idea.
As far as David L Roth goes, perhaps it is a way to keep his music and his art distinct, wouldn't be the first time for something like that to occur.
Certainly makes more sense than what Prince did for a time.

See it here:

Either Eddie's monitors were not working or he was not listening.

Yikes.

As soon as the keyboard part started I thought, Why is that sharp? Bands usually tune down a half-step or 2 as they get older? Then Eddie came in... Ugh.

Now I'm trying to figure out exactly what particular tech glitch would've caused the backing track to play at the wrong sample rate? That's not a common occurrence.
