DTS 5.0 sounds pretty good on this old DVD

but it may be time to upgrade . . .

Possibly my first fake surround experience.

1977 Cinerama Theater “4-TRACK MAGNETIC STEREO” — i.e., the original 1940 Fantasound transferred to 4-track stereo.

For those who dunno, Fantasound was the trademark for a mono soundtrack + guy with a joystick.

DARK on Netflix had a Dolby Atmos mix for season 1, but not 2 apparently. Curious if someone with atmos and Netflix 4k can check to see if the newly released Season 3 has atmos.

What makes you think that?

My Netflix lists the entire series as 4K Ultra HD and Atmos in the series description, the only place it ever does. Individual episodes or seasons are not so designated.

I’m very curious how this will sell... there are quite a few of us former fans who will probably never watch this series again because of how bad the final season was... honestly, it’s a shame because this series could have gone down as the best television series ever created. I’m happy for the peeps who liked the final season, though!

Unless the HDR/DV is incredibly stellar - I’ll just let my 4K Oppo do the upsacle from the 2K Blu ray discs (since the series was shot 2K, and the 4K discs are just upconverts).
the original Blu ray releases were already reference quality, too.
