I watched Roma when it was on netflix and quite liked it.
If there was a marxist message there happily I didnt see it
Maybe "Marxist" is a loaded label. The following is from a great online writing resource:

Based on the theories of Karl Marx (and so influenced by philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel), this school concerns itself with class differences, economic and otherwise, as well as the implications and complications of the capitalist system: "Marxism attempts to reveal the ways in which our socioeconomic system is the ultimate source of our experience" (Tyson 277).

Theorists working in the Marxist tradition, therefore, are interested in answering the overarching question, whom does it [the work, the effort, the policy, the road, etc.] benefit? The elite? The middle class? Marxist critics are also interested in how the lower or working classes are oppressed - in everyday life and in literature.

Given the above definition, did you see the possibility of such a message? Peace

Clement thank you for your thoughtful and erudite response.
I was sympathetic and aware of the abuses to the housekeeper and for that matter the indiginous peoples of Mexico.

As an analytical tool I have no problem with a marxist analysis of a society. I just dont want to live under such a system and see plenty of historical examples in world history that reinforce my opinion.
I did make a political comment which I shouldn't have because we are here for surround music
We all have different beliefs and should treat each other with kindness and respect.
I'd like to end this here at least publicly and the moderators are free to delete or edit as they see fit.
I mean people already lose their cool when discussing the use of a center speaker....
