Johnny Rivers - Realization

oh , dang... that is a name I had not heard in DECADES...yes, there WERE Kresge's in PR!!!
S.S. Kresge's... the "K" in K-Mart. When they opened up K-Marts all over and closed the Kresge's TG&Y took over the store. By that time I had become more mobile and was buying records at Fed Mart, Target, JC Penneys where I bought the Beatles White album, etc etc. and record stores like Sound Warehouse, Discount Records, Peaches, Hot Rocks, Sound Town, Music Land were becoming the places to buy records. Used to really love the store-wide sales they would have usually on or near holidays. Blow a whole paycheck and come out with an armload. ☺

I'm sure most of you vinyl-heads are familiar with the controversial Michael Fremer, (former) writer for Stereophile and Analog Planet. It seems he has recently left both of those to join The Absolute Sound and will be writing on a new site here:

Also, his former site Analog Planet will remain but featuring new writers, including Mike Mettler:

I remember Mike Mettler. He was with Sound & Vision probably 10-15 years ago. They were doing a feature on analog audio, I sent him a picture of my Teac A-2340 R-R playing my legal store bought prerecorded Abbey Road tape and it got published in the magazine. My little one time claim to fame!

He is still with that magazine and is a champion of all things surround. Not to get off-topic, but he writes a weekly blog/column on their website dedicated to Apple Music's streaming Spatial Audio content.

He seems to be very extreme in his views in the last few years, wonder if that will continue in the new site

I love and respect Michael Fremer but don’t much like it when he gets all political. I‘m sure it just pisses off and alienates many readers. Can’t we all get along?
