From my perspective, FedEx is the only way to go for orders from CD Japan. DHL just doesn't compare for delivery. Toto IV arrived yesterday, two days prior to release date. This is an excellent package through and through... a bit surprised about the title authoring error, but it doesn't effect my listening experience.

Sorry Adam the best I can see on the new SACD the DR's are 1 number higher on some of the tracks (old DR 13, new DR 14).
The songs are about the same but all different, the new some of the songs are much longer, like track 2 old is 3:47 and new is 4:24.
I am just glancing fast, someone else will be more detailed than me.
For you rippers out there, don't forget to rip the CD layer as there are 4 Japanese Bonus Tracks.
I ripped the SACD layer both the stereo and the MCH.

Arrival !

I'm really happy to finally have this disc. What a stellar 5.1 and packaging! The SACD Multichannel layer sounds really smooth with a nice dynamic range.

Here's what to expect from the Red Book layer though. Ouch!

Oof... I hope the SACD stereo tracks fare better.

Packaging is nice, if not a bit excessive. I mean, I really don't care for all the extra stuff. The books are enough for me. It's packaged in much the same way as my Bitch's Brew SACD from Japan, same size as well.

Even though this album was huge when I was listening to the radio all the time, I have never owned it or listened to it all the way through. The three singles I've heard enough. There are a few other songs on there that I like as well. It's very "of the time", but the guys can obviously write, play, and sing as their history would suggest.

I think it sounds pretty good. Great dynamics. It's a rather static surround mix, as one would expect from standard rock n roll like this, but hard to find faults.

A little context to this 40 year anniversary.

August 5, 1982, forty years ago today, the cover of Rolling Stone featured the Go-Go's.
MTV in full flower.

Their album chart had Toto IV at #6, followed by Eye in the Sky #7, with King Crimson Beat #15 with a bullet.

Oh man, I used to LOVE grazing over the Rolling Stone album charts. Such memories....

Wow…hard to believe that was 40 years ago.
I had graduated High School a couple of months before this.
Interesting to look at that chart to see how my musical tastes were changing.
I started High School as a hard rock/ metalhead, of course had the Ozzy & VH titles on there…but also started branching out to “alternative” with Bow Wow Wow, Flock of Seagulls, and Haircut 100.
Even saw Haircut 100 at The Pier in NYC that Summer …or was it the Summer before?!
The memory is a little foggy these days đź«

@fredblue OK I hope this is info that will help you Adam.

I have no speculation or experience as to why the slight differences.
I can say I really like the new version, seems softer for lack of a better word.

The 2003 version was most probably DSD64 mastered from the analogue tapes whereas the new version utilizes DSD256 mastering from a DSD mastered source but don't know if that would affect those DR scores ...which in BOTH instances are HIGHLY RESPECTABLE!

At any rate, thanks for those DR comparisons, Professor Powers!
