The Moose dropped this in my mailbox this afternoon. The surround mix of "Life On Mars?" is based on a remix of the song from a 2016 compilation that removed the guitar, bass and drums; leaving just Bowie's vocals, Wakeman's piano and the strings. It works well in 5.1. Bowie's vocals are front and centered. Wakeman's piano fills the space with a slight bias to the rears, while the strings are a bit more front centric but also fill up the room. A nice enough mix....but why only one song? Maybe on a future Ziggy box they'll give us two songs. Three songs on a Diamond Dogs box? By the time they get to a Let's Dance box they might be ready to give us the whole album.

Actually the strings are almost exclusively in the rear channels with a little bit also in the center channel.
Wakeman's piano is in the front and rear channels, while Bowie's voice is almost exclusively in all front channels with a little bit of reverb spillover to the rear channels.
