Hey guys, Hope your well. As you know I've spent the last year delving deep into the world of 3D audio producing my album WOLF. in Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 surround sound. I have now reproduced all my tracks from the last 10 years or so in Dolby Atmos (3D surround sound) and mixed then together in a 2 hour DJ set.

Listening to it now, some new, some from the Wolf album, sounds great in DD+ 7.1.4 Atmos.

That's awesome news! I downloaded the file and I'm extracting the core 5.1 to FLAC. Wish my computer could read at least the 7.1 information in a DD+-encoded file.

Are you playing back this DD+ file on Windows? If so, how do you get it to work?

I just double click the file and default Win media player starts - and send the sound as bitstream to AVR via hdmi = Atmos = :smokin

Matt Darey has a 50% off closing down sale this weekend which makes the downloads a bit more reasonable:

This was "my first" Dolby Atmos music I got when starting my new Home Cinema.

You can find now two free tracks there, for testing or tasting if you do not know his music.

It is a pity that Matt will continue with Atmos Streaming instead of uncompressed Blu-ray or file downloads. This is a partial text from the mail I received from him:

"""""""""
Please note the music store is closing down soon. All Stereo and Dolby Atmos will no longer be available. All music will be streaming only moving forward. Also a parting gift for Dolby Atmos & surround sound users.

I have been waiting for an offer on his 2 Atmos releases...50 quid each was just taking the p..s.

Well worth the wait though. They are fantastic examples of how to fully utilise Dolby Atmos, in mixing your music.

If you don't mind splashing out 25 quid, for each release, then, in my opinion, it's money well spent.

As I said I started with Matt Darey with Atmos music, even if that is not my musical style. I was just a prog fan from the clasic 70's bands.

But thanks to the new Atmos experiences I have started to really like other types of music, specially the electronic one.

And... since I joined the QQ forum, you all drive me crazy. Many and many surround releases...

Same here but in a nice way. :giggle:

I suspect, as usual, that Tidal streaming is not doing this release any justice.
I've listened to it a couple of times now and it really is an excellent Dolby Atmos mix.

I don't have Tidal any more. It's a great idea let down by poor user interface, less than average customer service and cost.

Well,I have many discs with Atmos music that is also on Tidal, and to my old ears it's not that big difference. The problem with Wolf is that I don't like the music so much.
I have Tidal on and off despite it shortcomings, becouse of music like Tom Petty,Wallflowers & All the Rest.Top music and top mix.Gojira was a pleasant surprice too.Saw them live 2-3 years ago on the local Malakoff festival.Good concert.

I wrote Matt, saying I was sad to see his Atmos store go. I asked him why, and whether he planned to produce more music in Atmos in the future. He said a big company is taking over his catalogue, and they don't cater to the more specialist market of surround enthusiasts. He also pointed out his albums will be on Tidal and acknowledged it sadly won't be the same as the hi-res versions he's been selling. He noted that he'll have more time in the future to produce new music, and he's looking forward to getting back into the studio.
