Grateful Dead Sunshine Daydream BD/DVD 5.1 mix

This release has been discussed briefly on the board. I sent a note to Jeffrey Norman who did the 5.1 mix, specifically to ask him about what he put in the surrounds.

His response:

Thanks for the question. I pull Jerry's guitar around to the left surround and Keith's piano around to the right surround, so I'd say yes there are instruments there. It wouldn't really work to have one of the band members exist only in the surround channels, so I try to make them "wider" in sound. Still the majority of the sound comes from the front, where the "stage" is.

Not exactly discrete, but not ambience/reverb either. His two-channel mix (you can hear some of it at http://dead.net) is outstanding, and it's an incredible show.
