We do not condone the illegal sharing of music. There are many places on the internet where you can participate in such transactions, but QuadraphonicQuad is not one of them. We are here to encourage and support new multichannel releases from those companies that still provide them and as such the distribution of illegal copies of recordings is counter-productive to that effort. Any posts of this sort will be deleted without notification.

Please try to avoid discussions that pit one format against another. Hint for new users: make liberal use of the search facilities here at QuadraphonicQuad. Our message base is an incredibly rich resource of detailed information on virtually all topics pertaining to surround-sound. You will be surprised at what you can find with a little digging!

Tonight on Thursday Surround we continue our celebration of Ray Conniff, who would have been 103 yesterday. Wednesday is all beautiful music with a focus on the stage and screen, so throughout the day we played recordings by Mr Conniff that were in line with that format - but Thursdays and Mondays - we offer up the widest selection of Beautiful Music, so during our surround hours, we can play the full range of Conniff in Quad - and there was a lot of it. Tonight we take the 6 Columbia LPs that have been reissued on the Dutton Vocalion label in the SACD format - we take those stunning discs, encode them for QS (Regular Matrix) - and play all 6 of them tonight - in Part one of our Conniff in Surround. Next Monday is part two, where we play 7 complete SQ albums - direct needle drops from the SQ originals. It starts tonight at 8pm - (NYC time)
