I'm builiding a quadraphonic amplifier and I'm not sure if I should use a single pot for each channel, or double pots for front channels and double ganger for the rear channels or a single quad ganger for the 4 channels. So, what is the standard for commercial quad amplifiers?

I'd rather you decide based on your needs rather than on standards. If you use different speakers for backs than fronts, you will likely want two sets of controls for compensation. Id they are all the same, then you could get away with all in one control. Akai had units thaf only had front tone controls and ba ks were as is. If you have unusal room acoustics or get the OCD Audiophile disease, then no matter what, go for 4 separate controls. Or you could just build in a loop for outboard EQs. Enough to think about? I look forward to hearing how you decide and how the build goes. Please give us some audio porn pictures as you build!😆

I've seen both single quad and double stereo f/b (cheaper stuff).

Ok, here's a spoiler of what's comming. I coudn't get my hands on quad gangers, so, I jerry rigged one from 2 dual gangers using a hex key. I noticed they have a hexagonal socket on backside, so, I cut a tiny piece out of a allen key, file one of the ends into a slot drive-like shape and got my quad ganger working, one spin controls the 4 of them pots. Those are for the volume, which I'm using a single control for the 4 channels. If I decide to use quad gangers for tone controls it'll be easier, cuz I can use the same method without haveing all the trouble of filing a hex key, I'll just arrange them back to back, once they are not log.

Quad ganged pots are available on eBay, Alps are among the best, most listings are for audio taper, linears seem harder to find. I do like your idea though. Where there is a will there is a way!
