Through the good graces and hard work of Bob Romano I have been able to obtain this show and put two ears within it. The quad is not as discrete as the Stones Brussels show - to me it sounds more like big stereo with all elements in both the fronts and rears. Perhaps certain elements are biased forward or backward, but the effect is subtle. That said, it is a great show in very good quality. A touch of hiss, but nothing to spoil the experience.

Interestingly there is a video clip of Rhiannon from the Midnight Special, and I believe they are from the same source. Perhaps more of this exists on video?

Fleetwood Mac recorded 4 tracks (Over My Head, Why, Rhiannon, World Turning) for the Midnight Special on 8 April 1976 in Burbank, California to be broadcast 11 June 1976. All four should be found on youtube.

The KBFH show is from the Capitol Theatre, Passaic, New Jersey 7 June 1975.

(They also played the Capitol Theatre 17 October 1975 but I believe that show has a different set list.)

I am a new member here, so I just thought I would pose a question. I collect radio shows and I have been searching for recordings of some of the older reel to reel shows like King Biscuit, BBC Rock Hour and BBC Transcription series to name a few. Does anyone here have such shows and have they by any chance archived them to cd? I don't know if this is allowed, but I thought I would ask. If not allowed....I apologize.

Yes, generally it seems that if they were a quad broadcast they retain the quad encoding. They've just used the existing masters.

Yesterday, I finally got my King Biscuit Flower Hour, BBC Rock Hour and BBC Transcription Services radio show reference indices and related web pages posted.

As honestly stated within them, these are 'rough' versions that I plan to reformat later, though that effort could take me some time. So it may be worth checking back on them in a number of months, to view the improvements.

The most important pages are the cumulative indices for these shows. As stated, these are intended to be 'works in process' and are not assumed to be completely accurate or totally comprehensive. There are acknowledged holes in them and my hope is that I will receive clarifying input from viewers, so that I can update and refine these pages over time.

Therefore, I would sincerely appreciate feedback on specific content, clarity of the format, and with any general comments regarding this effort.

Unbeknownst to many, KBFH and BBC were not the only quad matrix live broadcasts in syndicated form.

I have another CD for your database:







This one was attached to a copy of "Stereoplay, a german hifi magazine. It was included because they had an article about the 30th(?) anniversary of KBFH. I will search the mag and post a scan here when I find it.

You will note the KBFH CDs were distributed by in-akustik here in Germany.

Now I looked for the article, found out that I don't have the complete magazine, I preserved only the article.
It wasn't due to an anniversary of KBFH, but the 25th anniversary of "Stereoplay". The article was in issue 5/2003, and included the afore mentioned CD. In-Akustik, the distributer of all the King Biscuit CDs for Germany, made auguration to Stereoplay and provided this special compilation.

I spent the better part of the day, morning, reading through your site.I'm very much impressed.Job well done!
I especially like the BBC info.

When it comes to the KBFH, I find it hard to Fanthom what your stating they did regarding the syndication process with the quad tapes!
I have no doubt they had Discreet Q4 REEL-REEL tapes, but your suggesting that's all they had for distribution, and it was up to the local radio stations to ENCODE their own programs.This would mean that they had to all have:Encoders (SQ for the most part), a Q4 REEL-REEL, and possibly decoders to monitor and who knows what else.This scenario is very much possible with large market/large cities, but becomes a logistical nightmare when you consider the number of broadcast stations (many very small markets added yearly), and all for an 60 or 90 minute broadcast for once a week?
Surely they must have had a Post Production facility for matrix encoding programs for distribution.The KBFH ads state "SO YOU CAN HEAR IT THE WAY YOU WOULD BE SEEING IT".That suggests DIR would need quality control of their broadcast.Also who would supply this equipment? Would it be CBS ? PIONEER? or the station or DIR? Who bears the cost of purchase or lease?
I know you state your site is incomplete, but please understand why I have a little skepticism on your Q4 only statement.

Anyway I hope I can help in some way, as I do have some clippings regarding broadcast info.

And boy do I ever agree with you when you state intros and outros and DJ banter is a missed opportunity when erased from programs!
