Eventually our whole life is going to be digitally documented. At a point you have too much information and everything is then lost.
 
Well with all the new releases coming out this year and hopefully the near future, we all could use more storage, a BD rip takes up a lot of space (makes me think Mr. Urban is shopping ;)) But, they at least could have been SSDs at that price :eek:
 
This stuff is aimed at the movie houses. Raw 4k video and such is an absurd amount of data. If you try to run raw video streams and/or encode things on the fly you can bring a pretty powerful computer to its knees pretty quick if you aren't careful. The prices look absurd until you see what the hardware video switchers, encoders, etc are selling for. House prices again across the board! To the point that that new $60,000 Mac Pro and this kind of accessory make sense.

On the other hand you can get 4TB USB externals from WD for $99.
Or level up and put WD Black 4TB drives in your workstation or NAS. $170
That's more home archive territory.

Well that would be a good $6k with those WD Blacks for 144TB. So $10k for bionic speeds like that? Alright.
