I remember reading (probably this announcement in HF) about this Kenwood device, at the price, it's probably similar to the Electro-Voice Stereo-4 matrix system (which uses phase reversals rather than 90 degree phase shifts).

I did a quick Google search and found the owners manual in German or for a small $ charge, the schematic is probably available too (which would of course solve the encode/decode equations issue).

Looks like Kenwood wanted to keep their encode/decode system top secret - the (X15-1000-11), I'll stick with my earlier post that Quadrix is similar to the Scheiber/DynaQuad/Stereo-4 phase reversal type of matrix.

(just have to get a KA-8044, connect test signals to LF,RF,LB,RB and see what appears in encoded L,R)
