There is a Belgian Quadraphonic Ale as well! See www.ratebeer.com if your browser will let you mine keeps blocking it!
"Belgian Quadruple. Quadraphonic is the strongest of our Abbey series and is meant to be sipped and savoured. It is a dark brown ale with a complex profile. "

Ducan, you, fredblue [THE human encyclopedia of surround] and Mr Smithers should all get together at a London pub and experience that Belgian Quadruple Ale together. Am sure you'd ALL have a lot in common. Just ensure that after the PUB, fredblue goes to Balans for a proper steak dinner [NO McDonalds].

Fondly,

An Early Surround Sound DSD Release from Pentatone.
The new album featuring Shostakovich Symphonies Nos. 4 & 10 performed by Mikhail Pletnev conducting the Russian National Orchestra

Shostakovich.jpg

Exclusive Early Release at NativeDSD!

Mixing bombast with banality, savagery with sarcasm, this baffling yet profound Symphony No. 4 is paired with Shostakovich's ever-popular Symphony No. 10, a brooding and lyrical masterpiece.

We are very excited that Pentatone has granted NativeDSD an Exclusive Early Release of the new DSD Stereo and DSD Surround Sound recording of Shostakovich Symphonies Nos. 4 & 10 by the Russian National Orchestra under the baton of Mikhail Pletnev. It has an official release date of July 6, 2018. But you can get it at the NativeDSD Music store today. Why wait to enjoy such a fine DSD recording?

Concerto Metis by guitarist Enno Voorhorst and The String Soloists
Early Release in DSD Surround Sound, DSD Stereo & DSD Binaural. (DSD Exclusive, Not Available on SACD)

Cover - 450.jpg

Exclusive Early Release in DSD Stereo, Binaural and Surround Sound at NativeDSD!

Concerto Metis and Selected Works is a new album of the works of Roland Dyens performed by guitarist Enno Voorhorst and The String Soloists from Cobra Records. We are bringing this exciting new album to you in advance of its official release date on Stereo CD. Better yet, it is available today at the NativeDSD Music store in Stereo, Binaural and Surround Sound DSD 256, DSD 128, DSD 64 and DXD!

Cobra Records tells us "Both Enno and The String Soloists were deeply drawn to the unique style of Roland Dyens, which seems to belong between works by French composers such as Poulenc or Milhaud and the chansons of Brel or Nougaro. The solo works on this Album are a selection from his extensive repertoire, including some wonderful, less well-known works that most certainly deserve our attention. His most famous work, the Tango en SkaĂŻ, is included here in an uplifting version with string orchestra."

Add "Music From Big Pink" by The Band to the list of 2018 surround releases. It includes a 5.1 surround mix by Bob Clearmountain in 24/96 high resolution on blu ray disc, in addition to a stereo remix, bonus tracks, added studio chatter, a pair of pink 45 rpm vinyl discs and a hardbound book.. Not cheap at approximately $150 from the official site, however, Amazon in the US has a pre-order listing advertised at $82.94, if you can believe it. Will the stereo remix beat out the Mobile Fidelity SACD release? Too early to offer any opinion (it doesn't get released until August 29th which is right around the proverbial corner). What will a 5.1 mix sound like when derived from a four track analog source? Another good question, though the Beatles' "Love" was outstanding in my book. Will it be worth $150 or even $83 to people who are only interested in the surround mix? We've been down that road before(Roxy Music, anyone?). Of course, you can wait a year or so and then put the vinyl up for sale on Discogs or eBay.

Welcome to the forum:hi...if you want to catch up to the Big Pink thread it's HERE

Thanks for the welcome and for steering me to the Big Pink thread. A lot of classic rock albums turn 50 over the next few years so, like many of you, I’m hoping for news of a lot more surround releases.

Just check on here and someone is usually on top of the pre orders for new releases...we are expecting to hear of a Doobies release very soon...similar to the Chicago Quadio Box Set....while not surround..there are a few classic titles coming up in the future that I'm excited about....HERE...…HERE.....HERE....and if you like jazz...this one is almost here

Brian, NOT to sound counterproductive but Native DSD's price for Pentatone Multi/Stereo DSD downloads at 64fs is ridiculously high at US 35.42. Presto Classical recently had their annual sale on Pentatone SACDs at US $8.75 EACH with an additional $1.50 per disc s/h and they arrived within a week in Super Audio Jewel Cases with a lovely cardboard slipcase cover complete with liner notes and of course the RBCD layer.

Thanks again @Clint Eastwood. Apparently, you enjoy making my day! I have the Hendrix and Miles Davis SACDs on pre-order. I have a high resolution (24/192) download of S&G so I’m not sure that I want to spend on the SACD. And then there’s the fact that not all MoFi SACDs eventually see the light of day(e.g., they just announced that a planned Rickie Lee Jones SACD had been cancelled).

There is always Bitches Brew...if you like jazz...but the big one is the soon to be announced Doobies Quadio Set....if you like classical music there are some great sources on here for deals on quality releases....what you say is absolutely true about MoFi….I've waited over 2 years for some of the the titles that were finally released....and some just vanished and never were released...always a crapshoot with them...
