Hopefully when XTC get The Big Express done in surround we’ll have one of the best sea shanty’s ever recorded with All You Pretty Girls!

OMG!!! There is someone else who

One of my very favorite 'nautical' albums from 1972 originally on the Elektra Label

OMG!!!! There is someone else who owns "The Ship"?!?!?!? I have never met anyone who has even heard of this title. I think I'm overdue pulling this one out again.

I was drawn to this band because of the sea shanty, "The Mariner's Revenge Song". Walking though the fields of Austin, Texas I heard their call and have been a huge fan ever since. And you need to pull up the lyrics while watching.

By the way, I am the best judge of sea shanties here. My birthday is National Talk Like A Pirate Day. So, I believe I have a better understanding about what it takes to be a truly great sea shanty. :)

The band put out some other albums, too--and reissued A Contemporary Folk Music Journey in 2013.

Discussion with one of the original band members at SHF:

Unfortunately, there is nothing left at Amazon, their other site they used dropped them and CDBaby is no longer selling CDs. I used to love that site. It looks like I'm going to have to rip the album.

Issues -yeah?...
Not exactly a ditty, but man this would be great in surround too; love the sound he gets on his guitar around 2:38.
I agree, not a ditty. But definitely what I would think of as a shanty.

This is one of my top five all time favorite songs. The Decemberists are right up there with Kate Bush as a group I would love to hear in surround, but don't think I were will.

I'm listening to this NOW as we speak And this is the remastered Wounded Bird Records RBCD and it sounds EXCEPTIONAL. IMO, a MUST HAVE album which is unfortunately OOP and now commanding BIG BIG BUCKS!

I missed that window. I guess I'll have to do a needle drop to get it in a digital format.
