Bit the bullet and purchased a copy, which arrived yesterday, I can report that Alan Parsons definitly knows surround.

A buddy of mine met with AP a couple months ago stateside, he knows I'm an old quadhead so the subject came up. Yes, AP has been a quad lover for many, many years and still is. I have managed to make some pretty darn good AP 4 channel recordings in my studio. Maybe someday I'll share them with people. I think I want to do a re-mix first though, all 4 channel, I only use 5.1 for watching DVDs on my projector or HRV headset.

I bought this one when it was first released but hadn't gotten around to listening to it untill a few days ago. WOW. This discs sounds great, even if it is 'only' DTS. Electronica isn't my first love, but it's impossible not to be impressed by this release. Nothing like being awash in sound!

I finally found one of these, and it was at a CASINO!!!

While it is sad that it is not a DVD-A (What's up with this label that was so Pro-DVD Audio), it has a great surround mix.

I've seen this DualDisc at Wherehouse Music several times. Too bad it IS a DualDisc otherwise I would buy it.

If only Parsons' label would allow surround mixes of his older albums - talk about a no-brainer as far as hearty sales numbers are concerned, for surround music that is. I would buy I Robot, Pyramid, Turn Of A Friendly Card, Eye In The Sky and Try Anything Once in a heartbeat (and Gaudi & Stereotomy as a two-fer :)), even in just DD/DTS form. I will not buy anymore stereo remasters though. I grew up with APP, the poor man's Pink Floyd as a Rollling Stone(?) reviewer put it once, and their music is still a favorite of mine even if I am sort of burned out on it.

Look at it this way. "On Air" is a great DTS CD, and was enbraced by many here as one of the best. Just think of this release as another "DTS CD". The DTS mix is great.

Just think of this release as another "DTS CD".
I wish I could! I would love to hear a couple of the Talking Heads' albums in surround too, but can't get myself to buy one.

Order it from Amazon UK and you won't get DualDisc, you'll get CD+DVD-A.

Hello,

I finally got around to getting a copy of this and I love it for all the above mentioned reasons. For those that like the sonics, mix and genre of this title I would recommend checking out the DVD(DTS)\CD combo pack by BT (Brian Trifon?) called "This Binary Universe".

I just got a copy at Best Buy in the regular CD section.
One copy had the Dual Disc in silver on the front wrapping with a "blurb" about 5.1, etc.
The other copy was just plain on front, still was a dual disc.
So if you are flipping through the CD's, need to look at the back cover to see the Dual Disc indicator.

This is one of the most disappointing surround sound purchases I've made in my short life as a surround sound music customer.

This is not a critique of the sound quality, as many here mention it's a great surround product.

But, because it is not DVD-Audio capable MLP, I can't listen to it in my car which is where I do the bulk of my music listening.

I bought DVD Audio Solo recently and I will get the DTS tracks playable in my car soon...

Just for the record the DTS track is at 768 (or 754 depending how you count) kbps. I wonder why they did not encode it at full bitrate. Funny note: the disk contains a QuickTime video that explains the production of DVD-Audio ...

Got this one used from an Amazon seller, much cheaper than the prices currently asked on Discogs and eBay.

Unfortunately my CD player doesn't seem to like the CD side much. Oh well, I'll just make myself a CDR copy.
