Some albums sound really 'discrete' and you can pick out different instrument placements, others seem to be quite immersive.

BTW I think a lot will depend on the cars audio system and how it distributes the channels. I had a bit of fun' getting a sensible configuration for the focal point with the B&O system in the Audi. I eventually moved the focus to along the centre line of the car, middle of the rear seats, otherwise everything was very much in the front speakers and I had difficulty identifying instrument positions.

Vehicle: Audi 2021 A5 - B&O 3D/surround

Lee Ritenour - 6 String Theory (5.1) - this came out very discrete, I could easily identify the instrument positions
Donald Fagen - Morph The Cat (5.1) - this came out, as some tracks discrete, some immersive
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon (5.1) - this was much more immersive, even the effects seemed a bit 'smeared' rather than discrete

A Rocket
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral and Sting - Brand New Day fares very well in a car setting.
Golden Bonana - not so much, however this might just be my car.

Porcupine Tree In Absentia sounds great after applying the channel corrections.

Mind you my 2009 Audi A5 only plays surround from DTS DVDV (so not lossless).
The 2021 A5 plays 5.1 flacs but only from a USB stick, which is a pain, but ought to make me rip more disks!
