Cinemark Theaters have announced that they will be adding Auro 11.1 three dimensional theater sound system to 150 of their "XD" Extreme Digital Screens.
Auro is being used by Dreamworks Animation and Fox for some of their major animated movie releases.

Of interest to Surround fans, the Auro system was developed by Wilfried Van Baelen, the founder and CEO of Galaxy Studios in Europe - the home of many excellent Surround releases.
Van Baelen is married to Belgian Singer Dana Winner and produced her 5.1 Surround SACD releases.

We live real close to the Cinemark Headquarters in Plano and their theater there usually gets this stuff first. I know they've had the Dolby Atmos system in their XD screen there for a while (since Brave?). It will be interesting to see if this new system replaces it there.

I have the same question about the Cinemark theater in Fremont here that has Atmos in their prime "XD" screen. Will it co-exist with Atmos? Or replace it?
Should be very interesting....
