I've never noticed it before - i know it was a Dynaco recommended album, but the description on the reel is more than a recommandation:

Question is: the Dynaquad encoding is intact also on the cd?

The same "encoding" is on the CD. In actuality, the BB tracks earmarked for EV playback were not mixed in quad: engineer Stephen Desper created the stereo mixdowns with an ear towards having certain elements stand out during quad playback. (This was confirmed for me by Brad Elliot on a BBs forum some years back.) The impression I get is that it's not unlike the "quad" you can extract on Hendrix's "Electric Ladyland": not originally mixed in quad, but due to the phase relationships in the stereo mixdown it provides some interesting effects if you use the appropriate decoder.

i have the cd and yes, one can definitely get some fun surround effects not unlike the hendrix cds.
