Well, the prices on Multichannel SACD players continue to drop.

Recently, the folks at Oade Brothers (see www.oade.com/Home_theater...d1000.html ) reduced the sale price of the Philips SACD-1000 SACD/DVD Video/CD player from $1,450 to $795. (This is a player that has a list price of $2,000).

Now, Best Buy's web site is joining in with a deal on the Sony DVP-NS500V SACD/DVD Video/CD player - dropping its price to $179.99 (see www.bestbuy.com/detail.as...2&scat=244 for details).

Good to see that SACD players are coming down to a price range everyone can afford !

The 179$ sony has also a free 5dvd rebate, which lowers its price. Not too bad.
I'm thinking to get a SACD player in the US, the choice here is very limited and the price is a lot higher for a entry level. Other than a power converter from 220 to 110 i don't think the variation of the cycle, from 60hz to 50hz, will matter at all.

Well, these low prices are good deals on the SACD players.

The only debates I've heard are over which is the better sounding SACD player - the Sony DVP-NS500V at $179 or the Sony SCD-CE775 at $179 which doesn't have DVD Video playback, but is said to have the edge soundwise over the NS500V.

Check shopping.yahoo.com/shop?d...sortOrder= for pricing on the SCD-CE775.

I've seen the specs, seems the player you suggest is stereo only for sacd playback - and i need a multichannel SACD unit. Am i wrong, or the specs on the site are not accurate?
