Are these particularly good for a certain type of playback?
If you are referring to different genres wouldn't say that. They are High Output Moving Coil cartridges. They aren't that common. They allow you to get the benefits of a MC design (google it) without the need for the extra gain stage that MCs typically require. They plug into a standard Moving Magnet input. The output will be a bit lower, but only a handful of dBs.

My last HOMC was this one. I loved it. But note the price. That's what they go for.

Even just getting a nude mount diamond is difficult for $100

I ordered two of the DL-110's; I have one already, and a DL-160 (discontinued). The Denon HOMC's are excellent.
