"Close to You" the album has held up very well over the years. There isn't a bum track to be found anywhere. Even Richard's lead on "I Kept On Loving You" is great.
Karen's voice was just evolving into the tremendous instrument it ultimately became.
The quad mix is decent, though not as discreet as "Now and Then", "Singles" or "Horizon". But still pretty good.

It's a '7' for me, basic, unadventurous pop quad mix, you know some work went into it, but not a lot anyone could do without sounding a bit absurd with the gimmickry. And yes, the charm of Karen's voice was evident from the beginning, although I do wish they'd done some Lp cuts with more abandon than they ever offered, but they found a niche early on and pretty much stuck with it.

The last tune on the album, "Another Song", is pretty adventurous. And a perfect vehicle for discreet quad. Wish Richard would re-do that one for surround. ;)
