It seems I remember reading, in some reviews of CD-4 cartridges, that the B&O MMC 6000, in spite of not necessarily having the best measured specs, performed very satisfactorily.

I'll have to see if I can find one of those reviews.I think I have one saved.

The thing people balked at was the non-replaceable stylus.

It was not user replaceable. You could send it off to B&O to have it re-tipped, which cost less than another cartridge, but was still not cheap. If you wanted to keep listening to records while your cartridge was being re-tipped, you had to have two of them. That fact always kept me from buying a B&O turntable in spite of the extreme cool factor..
