The success of the first pair of 2-Lp sets of course made it easier for the band to stretch yet a third time. And like the other two, there are hits (here, literally two, both fine, including the underrated "Lowdown") and misses. I suppose they deserve credit even when they were overreaching, and there's no denying this is a fine mix and the musicianship is impeccable. But as V would prove, there was something to be said for whittling things down to a single slab of vinyl: less chance of going off on pointless tangents. That said, an '8' for the mix and some good music.
