And DMCA was in the planning stages at least as far back as 1996. (Although SACD probably was, too.)

OK so the SACD copy protection could have been specifically intended to be covered by DMCA. As could the copy protection on DVD.

Listen I know you all mean well and these issues are of some interest, but this is a thread about my SACD collection sale. Perhaps the people who are posting would make an offer?

Well, I’m nowhere near you, so I can’t pick them up, but again, I’d contact a used record store and see what they would offer if you don’t get any takers here. I’ve told my wife to do that in case of my unforseen demise, because nobody I know wants that stuff.

So far, everyone who has contacted me has not been local. Obviously if someone local to me does reach out, I will go with them. Otherwise, I may be stuck with boxing up everything and shipping it.
