Can someone enlighten me of the reason why DVD Fab was used (some time ago) to backup copies of DVD-A discs? I seem to recall that you couldn't just copy them as the copy didn't seem to work? Currently I have a home made DVD-A from years ago but it seems I've lost the source so would like to back it up

DVD Fab was (still is) an effective backup utility that removes commercial DVD-Audio MLP copy protections such as watermarks.
A home-made DVD-A should not contain commercial copy protection so most any DVD image copy utility would be able to back up your disc.
