The 1976 debut solo LP from the former Guess Who frontman, who was one of the first signings (along with Joan Baez) to CBS's fledgling Portrait Records, a sister label to Epic Records. The album, which went top-5 in Canada, yielded his only US Top-10 single, Stand Tall.

Nothing on this one. That's a surprise given all the love for the Guess Who here. I remember when this came out and my brother bought the stereo album. I got the Q8 as that was in my SQ no logic days. Too poor for a decent decoder. This album is the culmination of Burton's pop aspirations that partly drove the Guess Who to break up. Some members wanted more blues sound, from what I read. Anyways, as a purely pop album, its tough to beat this collection. Almost every song is catchy, if you are into that sort of thing, and I certainly am, in reasonable doses! The mix is better on tape than through my tate. There is a lot going on and things can get a little blurry. There is a lot of rear channel reverb on some of the tracks that is great discrete. That said, I do enjoy the sound of the SQ, although it has the standard mid/high boost, bass rolloff of the era for SQ. If you liked the pop Guess Who stuff then this one is for you.
