Really discrete mix on the Q8. Very little use of phantom center other than for vocals and bass. Drums are really spread wide in the front and on songs like Baby, Baby.... it almost seems as the entire kit is in FR while the overdub tom-tom is on the left. Excellent use of the rears. Still baffles me how Mac Davis got five Quad releases though. :)
 
Yes, this is a pretty decent quad album, though most of the music is pretty bland in that Countrypolitan way (though Mac wasn't exclusively a country artist, he simply appealed to that fan base).

A handful of the single sides included here exist in mono dedicated mixes, stereo, and quad, including the #1 title hit.

As for Mac's five quads, he was popular enough, though not in the big leagues like Santana, Chicago, or Paul Simon. To put those five in perspective, remember that Ray Conniff had about a dozen, Percy Faith eight. So he really wasn't getting 'special' quad treatment, as it were.
