Dolby Atmos Mixes in Radiohead's Future?

I have always wanted to see Dolby Atmos/5.1 mixes of Radiohead's entire music catalog. But Nigel Godrich is known to not be a fan of spatial audio calling it "rubbish".

Yesterday, Sonos announced a new spatial audio speaker (Era 300), and music producer Giles Martin, who is now the Senior VP of Sound Experience at Sonos, made an interesting comment about Nigel in an interview with CNET. Start at the 6:36 mark:



Fingers crossed. And PLEASE ask Steven Wilson to do the Atmos mixes.

The Smile new album "Wall of Eyes" will be previewed in some cinemas around the world in "surround sound" from this weekend, so maybe there's hope for future surround Radiohead reissues. Here the official news:

The “first and only time” wording on that makes it seem like whatever “surround sound” mix they have will be exclusive to theaters. Still… promising, considering Nigel’s past comments

To be noted that this album is not produced by Nigel Godrich but by Sam Petts-Davies, as Nigel was busy recording the new Idles album which will be available in Dolby Atmos (3 tracks already available).

Nope, Elliot Scheiner did that 5.1 mix. I don't think Nigel was involved at all.

Those first three Radiohead albums are canon for me. I'd buy overpriced 5.1/atmos deluxe sets with healing stones and candy corn if they were ever made available.
