This one in from Germany for some Krautrock. A 2 CD that I up-mixed with Penteo to 4.1, holds up really well for the most part.
The case is one of those unusual Z-types, that opens left hinge on the front and turn it over for the 2nd CD also on the left side.

I've never been aware of dolby surround cds until I saw this thread and then noticed there was a symphonic stones title listed. Wonder of wonders, I have this one! I immediately checked the disc and the label says dolby surround. I took it to the listening room and put it in my pannasonic 9000 surround player, which is hooked directly into my marantz quad amp. A thread on audiokarma said the marantz sqa2 decoder was an excellent choice for playing back dolby encoded cd's. My marantz just happens to be fitted with thw sqa2, so.....I pushed play and..... walla.... very impressive quad with vocals in the front and all kinds of stuff in the back. I like covers of famous songs played back in orchestral or pop arrangement's (I have all of the DV quads of mancini, mauriat, montenegro, coniff and percy). I'll be keeping my eyes open for dolby surround recordings from this time on as I'm looking through the used bins.

https://www.discogs.com/release/333...elphia-Orchestra-The-Fantastic-PhiladelphiansI ran across this CD which is Dolby Surround Encoded from tapes made in 1971 for the corresponding LP Quad release.
There is a series of about seven twenty five to hunt for. I would have bought this in anycase but I like having the same content on both Dolby Surround CD and SQ LP.
Should be some fun sperimentation of obsolete technologies. Maybe I should get a life. Too late now! 🤣

It's interesting that RCA rereleased some of their old discrete quads in the Dolby Surround format. Dutton has revived a couple of these titles on SACD, but not this one--at least not yet.

From the Discogs page you linked to, I see that user "Afalout" has a very long list of Dolby Surround titles:

How is the surround sound effect (w/original Dolby Pro-Logic) from ...Bach 2000 (how does it compare to the SQ encoded LP)?

Yes I have it.
Dolby Surround limits the surround channel to 7kHz, a little better than the fidelity of the typical AM radio, do you notice that this affects the surround sound much (I'm guessing that ...Bach 2000 isn't an ambience type surround sound recording)?

My latest Dolby Surround CD (purchased 1993ish) - I suppose you could say it was my first Surround album purchased :yikes:

It only took me a decade to get a system to play it in surround ...;)
Yep that is the only one I have. I played it quite a bit with an Onkyo quad receiver. I don't think it decodes correctly on any of my current receivers (I haven't tried with my new Denon). Ii hooked up the old Onkyo lo listen to it a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the mentions of Wendy Carlos' Switched on Bach. Found a copy on Discogs for $7 shipped and was pleasantly surprised how great it sounds. Probably best surround sound of any of my (admittedly few) Dolby CDs- great separation. Excellent fidelity and good content.

Thanks gents!
what are you using to decode these ProgRules?
