Long time no peep from Mr Dutton...

I understand what you're saying 4play, but I think he's simply being smart and waiting until the craziness is over. It's not like we haven't had some great releases in the recent months. Between December and March, three sets of solid releases were unleashed. If the company chose to release something in the present condition, there would be even more people complaining because they haven't received their order almost overnight and these knob heads would insist on having a replacement package sent to them.

Mr. Dutton as proven time and again that he knows what he's doing so I know there's nothing to worry about. I think it's more important he and his staff stay safe and remain with their loved ones like everybody else.

the elves are working in the factory under the correct distancing rules;
each SACD on the conveyor belt must be at least a 2-fer apart! 🤚

otherwise the O'Jays Quads will be erased from the discs and Dame Vera Lynn's Quads (including Whale Meat Again) will be recorded over every copy 📀 🐳 🥩

actually, that might shift a few copies right now.. 🤔

edit: meet / meat? 🤷‍♀️ bah! 😂

NO D~V QUAD Discs will be released before their time

As for the Elves, they're sufficiently PROTECTED

I've finally started to work through my 'to listen to pile' in no particular order - even though I always work from home, others don't so the disruption and poor Skype links helps get time. I listened to the Guess Who "Wheatfield Soul & Canned Wheat". I liked most tracks (not the now very dated spoken bits!), good fidelity, and mix in general (apart from my dislike of drums in a single rear speaker), I noticed that one Elliot Scheiner was one of the Engineers on Wheatfield Soul, I'm assuming its the same great future surround mixer. The Earth, Wind & Fire "Spirit & That's The Way Of The World" are great, mix, fidelity and nice funky soul/jazz, which I probably wouldn't have listened to when they were originally released as they were 'Disco'!

Generally, when you see "Quadraphonic" it means four channel. It could be a legacy mix or a new one, but it's 4 channels. When it says it's multichannel, it usually means more than four channels. as in 5.1 or 7.1. Although that could be four channels also.

My main problem was since I was looking for old Quadraphonic reissues, I was using the search function and entering "quadraphonic". Since several of the releases that were actually quadraphonic releases did not have Quadraphonic in the description of the title, they did not come up in the search. They have fixed several so they show up now. If you do a search on quadraphonic you get 5 pages of titles. If I click on the "SACD & surround sound" link on their site I get 8 pages. I am mostly interested in the old quad's so I hope they update all the titles, and add new ones with quadraphonic in the descriptions, so that we know which ones are actually quadraphonic releases, and can find them quickly.

How can you go wrong with any of them really?
The most important one is:

Coming Soon - "More & More" by Michael Dutton & Co.

D-V has admirable diversity, and have certainly expanded my musical horizons.

There are some very vocal cheerleaders here who happily hoover up every release and vote them 9's & 10's in the polls. Making it even more important than usual to audition the music before ordering to make sure it's your cup of tea.

I'm happy for folks who are tickled to get quad SACDs of old Q8 titles, but IMHO there was a lot of mediocre commercial stuff released.

I have no interest in MOR Pop & Instrumentals or Country, but I can easily come up with 20 titles across a wide range of styles:

Classical
  • Swingle Singers ~ Four Seasons
  • Julian Bream ~ Concertos for Lute & Orchestra
  • E. Power Biggs ~ The Six Organ Concerto Sinfonias
  • E. Power Biggs ~ Rheinberger Organ Concertos
  • Michael Tilson Thomas ~ Carmina Burana
Vintage Electronic Classical
  • Tomita ~ Firebird
  • Tomita ~ Daphnis et Chloe
Jazz Fusion
  • Coltrane & Santana ~ Illuminations
  • Return To Forever ~ Musicmagic
  • Weather Report ~ Tale Spinnin'
  • Herbie Hancock ~ Sextant
Classic Rock
  • The Guess Who ~ Wheatfield Soul & Canned Wheat
  • The Guess Who ~ American Woman & Share The Land
  • Argent ~ In Deep (Stereo- Nexus, Ring of Hands)
Horn Rock
  • Chase ~ Pure Music & Chase
  • Tower of Power ~ Ain't Nothing Stopping Us Now
Country Rock
  • Poco ~ Cantamos & Seven
Smooth Jazz
  • Deodato ~ Prelude & Deodato 2
Smooth Rock
  • Art Garfunkel ~ Breakaway
  • Art Garfunkel ~ Angel Clare

Keep it coming guys!!!

Regards,

surroundily brilliant and on that basis alone i'd recommend it.
musically however i find it too challenging for my somewhat limited Pop sensibilities, hence it doesn't make my list 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for your advise. I'm only interested on that list (Pop/Rock '70s Quad Reissue list) for now.

I'm not interested in Jazz Fusion titles neither, it never has been my cup of tea and I think never will be, I guess I do not have the sensibility for that kind of music. Now, I do love smooth Jazz in all his variants (singers, instrumental, solo artists, bands, etc)

Thank you all

Keep it coming!!!!

Regards,

When I was younger, I couldn't get into Jazz/Fusion and Horn Rock but,
gratefully, at some point my horizons expanded dramatically.
I have a lot of the titles listed above and a lot are on my list.
How's that Weather Report ?

to me the Tale Spinnin' SACD is fantastic in multichannel. sound quality is superb and the surround mix is just brilliant. one of my all-time favourite old CBS Quads in quite possibly the best presentation imho we will ever hear 🙂

please follow the link for the QQ Poll for the Tale Spinnin' MultiCh SACD;
