I got my copy in on Friday, but I haven't had the time to listen to it yet, so I plan to do that either tonight or tomorrow! :)

Mine won't play in MONO. Bummer man.

Presumably they reused the template from the Sly & The Family Stone Greatest Hits SACD and forgot/didn't check/couldn't be bothered to alter the artwork.

I find it bizarre that AF doesn't seem to care very much at all about the presentation of their product, especially one that they charge premium prices for. It's like ordering a filet mignon steak and having it delivered in a McDonalds container.

I could do without the track Clover. Skipped over it on the 2nd play. What are those awful noises? Some sort of wild animal?

Received my EW&F Head To The Sky today and a preliminary listen points to a very positive WOW factor. 70's Funk at its best. So, AF slipped up by including 'MONO' RBCD/SACD layer on back of slipsleeve. So What. Nobody's perfect.

I dunno my man - if they slipped up by calling something Multi-channel/Stereo only to find out it was only stereo....I'd be pretty pissed. I know, I know.....but mono is important to some. It's fair criticism IMO. Now, doesn't bother me in the slightest....but I'm a multi-channel fanatic and would likely never listen to the mono layer. :)

Though this one probably never was in mono...so there's that... :)

First off, it's a stupid but still very insignificant screw-up, so I could care less about that.
But when it comes to the mono vs stereo vs surround debate, it really depends on the content and mixing approach for me.
For example, I think the mono mix of Sly & The Family Stone's Greatest Hits is the best mix, because the other two mixes are cartoonishly extreme in the panning approaches that everything becomes unglued for me, whereas the mono mix is tight and really conveys the power of that music to a much greater degree.
(All my opinion of course, but then again, that's one of the purposes of an internet forum, to provide one's opinion!) ;)

Did this title come out on vinyl SQ back in the day, or was it just 8 track?

SQ vinyl too, catalog # CQ 32194. I don't think there are any Columbia quad releases that came out on 8-track only and not vinyl. There are plenty where the opposite is true, vinyl only and no corresponding Q8 like the Mike Oldfield titles, Isley Bros. 'Harvest For The World', O'Jays 'Survival' and 'Family Reunion', Harold Melvin 'Wake Up Everybody', Don Ellis 'Tears Of Joy', the Miles Davis titles, and plenty more.
