Faceplate Cleanup

Hello All. I've recently acquired two Marantz quads on eBay, a 4430 and a 4270. I'm in the process of having all the controls cleaned and bulbs replaced at a local shop here in Tucson. Can anyone give me some pointers on the best and safest way to clean 30 plus years of dirt and grime off the aluminum faceplates?
